The International Children's Digital Library began as a project of the University of Maryland and the Internet Archive in 2002. One of its goals was to build an international collection that would appeal to children all over the world ages 3–13. The collection contains more than 10,000 digitized children's books in 54 languages—including many award-winning books—and boasts users in more than 166 countries. It includes a Bookshelf feature that enables children to store their favorite books. The site is a premier children's digital library and an invaluable resource for children, parents, teachers, librarians, and researchers.
