Writing Assignment

Write an essay that answers the following question: What causes some people to succeed in spite of obstacles that make others fail?

Choose one public person who has overcome obstacles in his or her life and succeeded. Analyze how the person you've chosen has done this, identifying the behaviors or principles that allowed him or her to succeed. Apply some of Brafman's ideas to the person you've chosen, showing whether you think Brafman's principles contributed to this person's success or not. Provide specific examples to illustrate your points. (Note: the person you choose must be well known enough for you to find articles and other published texts about him or her.)

This paper must be 3 to 4 pages long, double-spaced. It should include quotes and references to Brafman's book and at least two additional sources about the person chosen. The dominant point of view used in the paper should be third person.
