These titles can be found on the first floor of the ARC library behind the Research Help Desk. These books can only be used in the library building; they cannot be checked out.

The resources identified in this Research Guide are intended to further your understanding of different theories of literary criticism. They are a representation of works available through the Los Rios Community College district; it is not a comprehensive listing.

General Book Resources

The following titles address multiple theoretical approaches in one source. They discuss each approach more in-depth, often in dedicated chapters and with examples, suggested questions to be asked when applying specific criticisms, and bibliographies of suggested further reading.

Requesting books from another campus

If ARC does not have the book you wish to check-out, request it from the other Los Rios college libraries by following these steps:

  • Find the item in the Library Catalog.
  • Click on the Request button located near the top of the page.
  • Login using your username and password
  • Choose pickup location.
  • Click Submit button; confirm selection on next screen.
  • The Circulation Desk will contact you by email when the item is ready for pickup.

Requested materials should take about 2-3 business days to arrive.
