POLS 302 - Professor Tabares: Suggested Resources

Suggested Resources for the Current Event Report and the Problem-Solution Project.

When you have a question about research, and don't ask a librarian, God kills a kitten.

Think of the kittens!

=^-.-^=

Seriously, though, if you have any questions or would like any help finding sources, please let us know. Librarians can:

  • Help save you time.
  • Help you find good, scholarly sources.
  • Make you feel, in comparison, incredibly cool and socially gifted.

Ask me questions on D2L. During the week, I'll respond within 24 hours. Or, use the link below to find all the ways you can get help from a librarian.

Think the library is cool? Well, maybe not cool, but, you know, tolerable? Keep up with us on Facebook.

Topic Ideas

Not sure what to research? Try browsing any of these for ideas.

Foreign News Sources

LexisNexis Academic provides access to thousands of foreign news sources. Try simple searches and then browse through the "sources by category" to find articles and news transcripts from sources around the world.

CountryWatch

If you don't have a topic yet or you have selected a topic but want some background info, CountryWatch may be helpful. You'll find it on the Library's Research Databases page

  1. From the databases page, click Reference and Statistics.
  2. Click CountryWatch.
  3. Click the Country Reviews link on the left hand side of the page.
  4. Select your country.
  5. Browse through the links on the left. The info on the links for Political Conditions, Environmental Issues, Human Rights, and others may help you to pick a topic.

CountryWatch will give you a lot of info. It usually presents info from oldest to newest, so try looking towards the bottom of sections and pages to get the most current info.
