The CRAAP Test Plus is a tool that you can use to help you evaluate the information you encounter when doing academic research as well as personal research.
When you're considering using a source for your research, or getting ready to forward something that landed in your social media account, what considerations to you make before clicking 'send', or adding an article to your list of sources for your research?
The questions outlined below may help you do a deeper dive and broaden the scope of your evaluation to consider critical ideas like, who's included in the research or which voices have been left out?
Schools, libraries, academic journals, etc., are institutions that can be dominated by voices that tend to diminish or ignore the role of racism, sexism, etc., in education, so questions like "Whose story is being told? Whose is being left out? What assumptions are made?" are critical to consider when conducting research.
Original CRAAP Test created by Chico State Librarians. Plus questions inspired by the work of Angela Pashia.
