OneSearch is really what it's name implies, one place to search for many different kinds of sources, including; books, eBooks, academic articles, news articles, videos, and more!

Examples Research Question: How can I find out more about first generation Latinx college students?  

Examples searches:

  • first generation college student latin*
  • "first generation" college student latin*

The below database is a great place to either begin your research or browse topics. 

For this database, use simple 1-3 keywords in your search. 

Search Tips and Examples

Search Tips:

  • 2-5 keywords often works well
  • Take advantage of the filters inside of OneSearch
  • Try different keywords - think synonyms!
    • Example: dog, puppy, hound, etc.  

 

Search Tools:

Asterisk: Use this to shorten a word and search for all possible endings of a root word, ie the search below is searching for Poverty and child/children/childhood/etc. This tool will give you more results

Example: Poverty child*  

 

Parentheses: Use these around keywords separated by the word or to expand your search. In the example below, we are searching for (Poverty and ethnic*) as well as (Poverty and race) in one easy search. 

Example: Poverty (ethnic* or race)
