Children's and Young Adult books tend to be banned or contested more than other pieces of literature, due to parents wanting to "protect" their children. As a result,  public schools have often pulled books from their classrooms and libraries. The American Library Association dedicates a section of their website to banned and challenged books. Within that there are sections on Frequently Challenged Books and the Top Ten Most Challenged Book Lists.
