Why can't I access an eBook?
- Limited access: Although many of the library’s eBooks allow for unlimited access, due to copyright restrictions, some can only be accessed by 1-3 users at a time. If this is the case, you will not be able to access the eBook until there is a copy available. The book may also be a physical item or we might not have access to the book.
- Not logged in to LRCCD: If you are not on campus, you must be logged in with your Los Rios w# and password. The easiest way to log in is to access the database through our list of databases or your eBook through OneSearch.
Why can't I download eBook or chapter?
- Not logged in to database: Often the database will require you to log in in order to download an eBook or chapter. If you do not have an account with that specific database, you MUST create one in order to download. If you do not wish to create an account, you will be able to access the material in your browser.
- Not possible to download: Some materials can only be read online. For example, ProQuest and EBSCO eBooks with only 1 user at a time cannot be downloaded.
Why can't I open a downloaded eBook?
- Missing required software: Most PDF files can be opened in your web browser or a PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. However, if you are downloading an EPUB file, Adobe Digital Editions is required (unless you are downloading to an Amazon Kindle Fire, which requires Overdrive).
Why can't I find the eBook I want?
- The library does not have every book available as an eBook. If you do not find the book you need as an eBook, the library may have a physical copy of the book that you can borrow. If the library has neither an eBook or print copy of the book you need, you can request a print copy to be sent to the ARC library for you through interlibrary loan.
