eBooks Guide: ProQuest Ebook Central

Off-Campus Access

To log in from off-campus, you will need your eServices username (w+student ID) and password. 

Ebook Central

Ebook Central is a database from ProQuest containing hundreds of eBooks. 

BORROWING GUIDELINES:

  • If the library only has one license for an eBook, it cannot be downloaded. 
  • Once you find a book in Ebook Central, you can find your options for accessing it under "availability." Some books have unlimited access, while others will limit access to 1-3 users at a time.
  • If we only have one copy and it is in use, you will not be able to access it until the user returns it. 

How to Read EBook Central eBook

  • Read Online - all books can be read online without needing to create an account with ProQuest. 
  • Download Book - you must create an account with ProQuest to download a book. Some books can be downloaded in their entirety as a PDF file and opened with any compatible software, while others are downloaded as an EPUB file and can only be opened in Adobe Digital Editions, which will also require an Adobe account.  You can open a PDF in your web browser or with a compatible PDF reader, such as Adobe Reader.
    • ProQuest Ebook Central books can be read aloud in Adobe Digital Editions.

      1. Step 1: Download your selected title into Adobe Digital Editions.

      2. Step 2: Turn VoiceOver on by going in the menu bar to: Adobe Digital Editions > Services > Service Preferences > Universal Access > Turn VoiceOver on or off.

  • Download PDF Chapter - you must create an account with ProQuest to download a chapter. All chapters are downloaded as a PDF file. There may be restrictions to the number of pages that you are able to download as a PDF file. You can open a PDF in your web browser or with a compatible PDF reader, such as Adobe Reader.
